The Calvisano Plant Facility
The CALVISANO production site, defined as a “non-hazardous special waste management and treatment plant”, is approved under Province of Brescia Integrated Environmental Authorisation (Italian acronym AIA) no. 3634 of 11/12/2014. The operations undertaken at this site entail the production of various types of certified aggregates, unbound and bound with hydraulic binders (cement/bitumen emulsion/other binders) from the processing and recycling of authorised EWC-coded materials, in compliance with specific technical reference standards (UNI EN 13242 – Aggregates for unbound and hydraulically bound materials for use in civil engineering work and road construction, UNI EN 12620 – Aggregates for concrete, UNI EN 13043 – Aggregates for bituminous mixtures and surface treatments for roads, airfields and other trafficked areas).
The site covers an area of approximately 34,000 square metres divided into storage and processing areas for incoming waste and storage areas for intermediate waste and finished products that are no longer classified as waste (marked as artificial aggregates). Specific plant equipment is designed for the processing of certain types of material (black steel slag, asphalt blocks and reclaimed milled paving) and for the production of aggregates bound with hydraulic binders (cement mixes, concrete, cold mix asphalt). Namely, a first machine crushes, deirons, screens and selects incoming material to obtain unbound aggregates divided into different sizes that are then CE 2+ certified in accordance with the relevant UNI EN standards. A second cold-mixing plant doses aggregates and binders according to precise “recipes” to produce cold-mixed cement and/or bitumen mixes, as well as concrete with a specified RcK strength

The Montichiari Plant Facility
The MONTICHIARI production site, defined as a “non-hazardous special waste management and treatment plant”, is approved under Province of Brescia Integrated Environmental Authorisation (Italian acronym AIA) no. 2689 of 19/11/2021. The operations undertaken at this site entail the production of various types of unbound certified aggregates from the processing and recycling of authorised EWC-coded materials, in compliance with specific technical reference standards (UNI EN 13242 – Aggregates for unbound and hydraulically bound materials for use in civil engineering work and road construction, UNI EN 12620 – Aggregates for concrete). The site covers an area of approximately 26,000 square metres divided into storage and processing areas for incoming waste and storage areas for intermediate waste and finished products that are no longer classified as waste. The production cycle consists of an initial manual selection to remove fractions not suitable for further processing, followed by crushing and deironing in a crushing machine and final screening to select the main particle sizes (0-63 – 0-31.5 – 30-60 – 60-100). All final product sold is CE 2+ certified in accordance with the applicable UNI EN standards.
The entire production process to obtain a commercial product by recycling a “waste” material is regulated and controlled by specific control procedures carried out before, during and after the relevant operations. The latter are subject to rules and controls both by a third-party Certification Body and also by the bodies responsible for conducting the authorisation inspections. The site is equipped with all the necessary and appropriate means for the comprehensive containment of environmental impact and control of environmental compliance. This entails implementing dust abatement (forced extraction from crushing areas, sprayers covering material stockpiles and transit areas etc.), safeguarding groundwater (wastewater treatment plant, reuse of rainwater etc.) and noise containment (green barriers, sound-absorbing barriers, use of special tyres etc.). The Montichiari plant facility is authorised to process special non-hazardous waste as listed in the table below for a total capacity of 240,000 tonnes/year.

PROCESS FLOW IN THE MONTICHIARI CRUSHING PLANT
The plant equipment used for the processing of inert waste and the production of aggregate is of the fixed type and comprises a CONTINENTAL NORD crusher and a CHIEFTAIN 600 screen. When fully operational, the unit can process 600 m3/day of material using dry processing technology. The following chart illustrates the process cycle:
